International Seminar on the Search for Origins
About the Event
The Secrétariat à l’adoption internationale (SAI) is organizing an international seminar on the search for origins. The activity will bring together representatives of central and competent authorities from countries of origin, host countries and their partners.
The event will be held in Montreal on May 27, 28 and 29, 2019. The event is reserved for professionals in the field of adoption.
Seminar Theme and Objectives
The program will include conferences, round tables and workshops in which delegations from some twenty countries as well as professionals and stakeholders in international adoption from Québec will participate.
The objectives are as follows:
- Discuss the issues and challenges surrounding the search for origins, especially in the context of international adoption;
- Share best practices relating to the search for origins in adoption;
- Give the floor to actors in the search for origins process and to experts.
Participants will be able to discuss the following topics:
- From adoption to research into family origins: a continuum over time;
- Research into family origins and identity, a multifaceted quest, diversified tools;
- Research into family origins in the digital era.
